The Ellewala waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls in the ella Sri Lanka. The waterfall cascades down from a height of about 25 meters (82 feet) and is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a popular tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. 

This waterfall lies hidden inside the jungle about 5 km from Wellawaya Town.

Coming from Wellawaya, travel 3 km on the Ella Road to reach the Rathmal Vehera Ancient Temple. Take the road oppersite to the temple which will lead to the waterfall. Last few kilo meters are said be rough and not suitable for a vehicle with low ground clearance. You may need a 4×4 or will need to travel by a 3 wheeler. To reach the fall, you will need to walk few hundred meters in to the jungle.

Ellewala waterfall is an attractive spot for swimming, especially during certain times of the year when the water flow is not too strong and the pool at the base is calm. However, it's essential to exercise caution when swimming in natural bodies of water.
