Our eight newly curated hiking routes allow you to immerse yourself in nature, walk through ancient tea estates, and explore remote villages that few travelers have set foot in.

These trails are designed for those who seek off-the-beaten-path adventures, whether it’s a short scenic trek or a challenging day hike through misty forests and rugged mountain ridges. Each route has been carefully mapped to showcase the natural beauty and cultural richness of Uva, making them perfect for explorers looking for something beyond the usual tourist hotspots.

 

The Eight Hiking Trails

 

1. Lipton’s Seat Sunrise Trail

A scenic 7 km trek from Haputale through lush tea plantations, leading to Lipton’s Seat, where Sir Thomas Lipton once surveyed his tea empire. Best done at sunrise for spectacular views.

2. Ella Rock Hike

A moderate 10 km round-trip hike with stunning panoramic views of Ella Gap and the surrounding mountains. The route takes you through railway tracks, forests, and tea estates.

3. Diyaluma Falls Trek

A 5 km adventure leading to the top of Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lanka’s second-highest waterfall. Explore natural infinity pools and breathtaking cliffside views.

4. Namunukula Mountain Trail

A challenging 15 km hike ascending to the peak of Namunukula (2,035m), the tallest mountain in Uva. The trail features dense forests, steep climbs, and rewarding summit views.

5. Horton Plains to Ohiya Trek

A 12 km one-way hike starting from Horton Plains National Park and descending to Ohiya through cloud forests, grasslands, and scenic viewpoints, including the famous World’s End.

6. Pilkington Point Trail

A hidden gem near Bandarawela, this 8 km trail leads to Pilkington Point, a stunning lookout offering sweeping views of the lowlands and distant southern coastline.

7. Bambarakanda Forest Trail

A moderate 10 km trek through pine forests and tea estates, ending at Bambarakanda Falls, Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall. Ideal for nature lovers and waterfall enthusiasts.

8. Bogoda Bridge & Cave Trek

A 6 km cultural hike through ancient villages and forests, leading to the historic Bogoda Wooden Bridge and a hidden cave temple dating back to the Anuradhapura period.
