Yala National Park

This national park comes to the second place extent and mostly visited by the tourist coming to Sri Lanka. It is 979 sq km in extent and spreaded over Uva and Southern Provinces. This was declared as faunal reserve in 1900 and as a national park in 1938. This national Park gets rainfalls from North – east monsoon and the features of dry semi-arid ecological system can be observed here. Yala National Park is famous for its world’s highest leopard density and for the number of inheriting fauna including elephants, tusker, aquatic birds and amphibians.
